# Sandboxes Sandboxes are becoming an increasingly important testing tool to identify and address challenges associated with emerging technology. A few governments have already set up sandboxes to better understand the impact of potential regulatory frameworks. However, there is still a long way to go before sandboxes are fully embraced to help actually design data policy frameworks, especially in a cross-border regulatory context. The [[Datasphere Initiative]] developed the world’s first roadmap outlining the design and initiation of cross-border sandboxes for data. This work is based on the experiences of different use cases and is intended to facilitate the development of expertise and the advancement of the field. The [Global Sandboxes Forum](https://sandboxes.thedatasphere.org/) brings together a community of practice to demonstrate the unique potential of sandboxes and foster the adoption of a more collaborative approach to address local and global challenges of the digital age. For more information about other actors who are conducting sandbox research, please consult the following resources: * [WorldCat](https://search.worldcat.org/search?&offset=1&q=Recent+studies+about+data+and+data+governance+and+Sandboxes) * [Consensus](https://consensus.app/results/?synthesize=off&copilot=off&q=Recent+studies+about+data+and+data+governance+and+Sandboxes) * [Google Scholar](https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=Recent+studies+about+data+and+data+governance+and+Sandboxes) Our research team, partners, and the extended Network of the Datasphere have identified the following organizations working at the intersection of data or data governance and sandboxes. We recognize this is a dynamic field and would appreciate your help to [[contact our research team|improve]] this resource.
