# Environmental Data Initiative #

The EDI Data Portal contains environmental and ecological data packages contributed by a number of participating organizations. Data providers make every effort to release data in a timely fashion and with attention to accurate, well-designed and well-documented data.
We preserve environmental data for open and reproducible science, to promote synthesis across space and time, and to aid in the assessment of environmental change and its consequences. The Environmental Data Initiative envisions a future of scientific discovery fueled by data commons accessible to everyone.
